POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 March 20th to May 15th, 2020: TRENT UNIVERSITY, CONTINUING EDUCATION WELCOMES VALERIE KENT IN A WILDLY ABSTRACT WORKSHOP
Wildly Creative Abstract Painting Course
8 Weeks Valerie Kent
Abstracts have been around since the early 1900s. In 1905 Hilma af Klint, a Swedish Artist, painted abstracts, over 1000 abstracts. She painted “large, buoyant, and airy
canvases, some ten feet high, painted in bright colours, featuring curlicues, spirals, flower shapes, organic elements, and words written in large cursive script.”
Her work is only now being appreciated for the genius it is. It is trendy for interior design and décor. It was contemporary then and it is contemporary now.
We will explore and exploit our own remarkable abilities and create spontaneous, fresh Paintings. We will also incorporate the Elements and Principles of Art, including Shape, Value and Colour. A Center of Interest will be important.
All mediums are Welcome in this Course: Oil, Acrylic or Watercolour. Minimum size of supports are: stretched canvas or canvas board, 16 x 20 watercolour paper, 11 x 15. We willuse large brushes. Supply List available. If you are excited by clean, bright colours, incorporating texture, stamping, making patterns, dripping paint – this is 8-weeks of heaven for you.
