"I met Valerie Kent in her gallery in Cavan Ontario. Together with some friends we done a few workshops there. When Valerie mentioned that she would be doing an art retreat in France, I immediately said that I would go. I had never been to France before and I had never heard of a place called Terrasson. Quite frankly, I just booked and never gave it much more thought as I live a fast paced life in Canada.
"About a week before I left, I started getting very anxious. Not only was I going to an unknown place, but other than Valarie, I did not know anyone that was going. I was also going to be sharing a house with strangers, something I had never done before. Being an abstract artist , I had never done plein air painting.
"The moment I entered the house with the old blue door in the French village of Terrasson all my anxiety melted away. Valerie greeted me with her lovely warm smile and the kitchen was filled with people cooking delicious food, chatting and laughing. Johanna the owner of the house took me up to my room and showed me around this amazing old renovated house. My room had doors leading onto a balcony, looking over the village.I immediately fell madly in love with Terrasson. Johanna was the most amazing hostess. She did everything possible to make our stay spectacular. Valerie took all my fears of doing plein air art away. Fun, laughter amazing food, painting, outings to the wineries , caves, and the French country side and lovely walks discovering this amazing village built in the 1700s.
"I extended my stay. My heart could not bear to leave these amazing people and this wonderful village that stole my heart. I am returning to Terrasson in September. I have to share everything with my husband and I hope to return there many more times in my lifetime. Thank you to both Valerie and Johanna for being such great hostesses."
